I may not completely agree with the song’s title, but luckily, I don’t think David Byrne does either. A lot of Talking Heads songs have this kind of satirical naiveté, looking at everything at face value, and thus “accidentally” exposing the flaws of the systems they seemingly speak so highly of. It works as a refreshingly different for of political music compared to the overt political messages of other punk bands at the time like the Sex Pistols, the Clash, and the Damned. I can’t say that one is better or more important than the other, balance is necessary in any good punk catalogue.
