I may not completely agree with the song’s title, but luckily, I don’t think David Byrne does either. A lot of Talking Heads songs have this kind of satirical naivet√©, looking at everything at face value, and thus “accidentally” exposing the flaws of the systems they seemingly speak so highly of. It works as a refreshingly different for of political music compared to the overt political messages of other punk bands at the time like the Sex Pistols, the Clash, and the Damned. I can’t say that one is better or more important than the other, balance is necessary in any good punk catalogue.
