The Kinks’ career is just one reinvention after another; in the 60s the proto-punk of  ‘You Really Got Me’ and ‘All Day and All of the Night’ to the Vaudevillian ‘Sunny Afternoon’ and ‘A Well Respected Man’, to the rock and roll return to form of  ‘Victoria,’ culminating with the folk rock ballad that is ‘Strangers.’ This song was written as a tribute to the late friend of Dave Davies, George Harris (not to be confused with George Harrison), but works as a simple ode to friendship and love. Just a really well mixed and produced song, and a classic in the Kinks’ catalogue.
