I am in no means anything close to a hip hop expert, but there are some tracks and some rappers that I love. Kendrick Lamar is one of these rappers, his flow, his lyrics, and the level of detail in the production are all just so powerful in a chaotic, unpredictable way. This track was a highlight of ‘To Pimp a Butterfly’ for me just because of the seamless way it fit into the rest of the album, nestled at the tail end of ‘Hood Politics’ it immediately addresses major issues of extreme poverty, greed and the religion. For being one of my favourite tracks on the album and in modern hip hop, it is today’s SOTD.
