Tom Petty recognized Carl Perkins in a Rolling Stone article for the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time saying that: “If you want to play Fifties rock & roll, you can either play like Chuck Berry, or you can play like Carl Perkins.” This statement still seems to ring true a lot of important guitar players seem to take much of their style from him, including George Harrison (and the rest of the Beatles), Eric Clapton, John Fogerty, and Bob Dylan. This song is one of his most well known songs, and a great showcase of his great talent as a guitar player and songwriter.
