First of all, I’m a bit disappointed that Mac DeMarco (a Canadian) spelled neighboUrhood the American way, but the quality of his songwriting definitely makes up for it. ‘Freaking Out the Neighborhood’ works as an ode to growing up, changing your habits, but never really changing from the kind of¬†person you always were. That’s the kind of fresh, realistic take on a simple concept that makes Mac such a great songwriter and performer. The song also contains his trademark chorus heavy, mellow guitar riffs, and butter-smooth vocals throughout making it one of his most recognizable and popular tracks. Regardless of your mood, if you’re looking for something a little different from the usual indie scene, a Mac DeMarco song never fails to disappoint, and for that, it is today’s SOTD
